Vision Statement

SJedi Green Energy’s seeks to be the foremost company in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) delivering sustainable and affordable energy solutions to families.

Management Summary

SJEDIs founder is Peter Gbelia who brought in Royston Gbelia to be COE and to manage daily operations.  SJEDI has five full-time staff members (Action Officers)  who share multiple responsibilities from administration, sales and marketing, IT, warranty servicing, community outreach, collections, and distribution and delivery. We’ve recently partnered with Mercy Corp to get four brand new interns who will be learning the sustainability arts.

Peter Gbelia – Founder

Peter is concurrently serving as Executive Director of the Empowerment Society International, formed in 2003 to introduce Sustainable Development solutions to war torn regions of Africa.  He is also flies commercially as a 737 First Officer (FO) for Alaska Airlines.

Degrees and Certifications:

  • Masters Degree in Sustainability from  Arizona State University’s School of Sustainability’s (SOS)
  • Awarded $2,000 grant from ASU’s  Technopolis Entrepreneurial Advantage Program (EAP)
  • Awarded $20,000 UNDP GEF-Small Grant Program award as part of a rural sustainable livelihoods project in Liberia.
  • LEED Accredited Professional (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design),
  • HERS (Home Energy Rater System) Certified.
  • Undergraduate: US Air Force Academy, class of 1993.

Royston Gbelia – Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

SJEDI is the West Africa Distributor for the Envirofit CH-2200 charcoal cookstove. Royston has many years of experience in the administrative and customer service fields, working for several years as a manager at various corporate levels. Royston’s extensive customer service experience has helped him develop excellent communication skills and has proven him to be highly effective in teamwork settings.  Through his leadership, over 6,000 CH-2200/2300 charcoal and G3300 wood cookstoves have currently been distributed in Liberia as well as over 300 Solar Lighting Systems from Fosera, DLite, and others.
